I felt that the group gave a lot of input and suggestions, consistently throughout the lesson. We listened to our directions, but also gave ideas to improve them. This shows that the group is improving with their personal skills, making it much easier to work positively together in rehearsals.
The group need to work on being more efficient in rehearsals. We have a very short time to prepare the rest of the play and so far we only have three scenes. In order for us to get everything done, the group need to be prepared for the lesson, this involves checking the physical script through the week and making sure we are clear on our queues and lines. We need to concentrate, focus and make sure that the energy level doesn't drop, because if it does it makes it so much harder to create good theatre.

Evaluation of our play so far
We have put together two scenes of our play so far. The scenes that we have got are good but need improvement. We have to work really hard and very efficiently in order to produce an outstanding performance; which is something that is important to everyone in our ensemble.
Our work in the rehearsals is very good and we are improving in our technical and personal skills. I think everyone in the group has a really positive attitude in rehearsals. Everyone always has ideas, thoughts and opinions to give to the ensemble, which is always constructive! One thing that we could improve on in our rehearsals is self reflection. We need to make sure that we reflect on our individual contribution that we gave in the lesson. If we are able to do this, we can then think about doing something to improve , so we can come to the next lesson with an even better attitude and input .
In our performance we need to make a lot of improvements. We have strong points in the play, but the weak points bring it down. Some parts are very refined and look fantastic, but others have low energy levels and the commitment to the character you are playing drops, when the energy drops. I feel that it would be useful to refresh our objectives for the scenes so far. It is easier to work out objectives when working in small groups, but once the whole ensemble do a scene, objectives can easily get forgotten. Once we have got these things refined, along with working on our transitions , our performance of 'Black Out' will be a very effective and strong performance.
I know that the ensemble can do so much with this play and I am really looking forward to working on it more.

The whole group was involved, kept a high energy
level throughout and had a good awareness of the audience. The performance
had very good technical skills. It was an effective performance.
They showed a positive contribution to the
performance and demonstrated a good use of technical/ physical theatre.
The group all gave a positive contribution and
showed good use of technical kills. They had a good energy level.
|
They needed to make sure they were clear on
objectives and needed to have tighter transitions. They needed to think about
whether or not it would be suitable for the whole group to perform.
They could have been more committed to their
characters, had their piece more rehearsed and a better engagement with the audience
(they had their backs to the audience).
